Why was CFK started?

Connection For Kids was created by a foster parent to help stop the multiple placements of Maine's foster children. Our programs are successfully based in nurturing, support and short-term treatment.

What Mental Health Services and support do you provide?

  • Outpatient Therapy Services for adults and children;
  • Targeted Case Management for Children;
  • Home Based Clinical Services;
  • Our visitation program offers support to families in their natural environment. We coach and educate parents in successful ways to parent their children;
  • Our goal is to move the family unit towards self-sufficiency through modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. We establish natural supports in the community so families can sustain their level of independence.

What makes CFK visitations special?

We believe that supervised visits between parents and children must occur in a non-threatening setting. Our visits take place in a warm and comfortable environment conducive to open communication. Our supervisors are skilled professionals with many years of knowledge and experience in the complexity of domestic issues. We maintain a neutral perspective while working with the families and children. We offer help to parents who need support with their parenting skills. We share our knowledge in behavior management and help parents form strategies that best fit their needs. Our goal is to work towards family independence whenever possible.

How is CFK funded?

We receive funding through federal, state, and charitable contributions.
